Thinking of joining the Better Business Bureau?

An associate was contacted by the Better Business Bureau “BBB”to become an accredited member. This company “X” has been servicing Marco Island for over 30 years. The BBB wanted to charge them over $3,000 for an annual membership. Our first question is why so much? Apparently the BBB charges you based on the total number of employees you have. While we did not think that was fair we continued to list out the pros and cons of membership.

PROS
Being associated with the BBB is positive and you can use their seal on your website to establish a sense of stability for your visitors.

Hmm… So, considering your Internet Identity is important, we did a test on ourselves since we are currently not a member of the BBB and here is what we found:

SEARCH: “Web Design Company”,
AREA: Naples, Florida – Currently RGB is listed number two – Our rating is an A+.

Based on the following:

  • Length of time business has been operating.
  • No complaints filed with BBB.
  • BB has sufficient background information on this business.

So, it would stand to reason that a good company with a good/great track record will be listed towards the top along with their rating. Whether you are a member or not.

In conclusion company “X” has a A+ rating after 30 years in business. That says a lot and we would hope the BBB would offer this company recognition discount. They are the exact type of company the BBB would want to recommend to consumers.
